Banana Chips and Peanut Butter

Sorry for the lack of updates, it’s been a wild ride so far. The few days I spent wondering around NYC before the start of IRTS was a lot of fun, but it feels so nice to get out of that tiny hostel room. On Friday, Sarah came down from Mass to hang out and we went uptown and downtown a few times and ended up seeing Harry and the Potters later that night. You don’t have to ever read one Harry Potter book to enjoy what they have to offer. Fun and uplifting music that has a great message that Voldemort Can’t Stop The Rock! Below is a small video I took of their performance. I also hit up a UCB show in which Derrick defeated Blackout! in an improv showdown. And started to do some work on my correspondence items.

And on Sunday I began my IRTS experience. I am rooming with Brian Garber, a buddy from Rutgers. There are six roommates for the one suite. And it is fun that there are only seven men in the program. Monis unfortunately got stuck on the third floor with an RA. I’ll have more on the whole program as this orientation week wraps up. But so far we have…

- Tangoed with our career
- Been to Spike TV and Fuse
- Met Bob Friedman (helped start MTV)
- Hung out with some former fellows
- Went to the headquarters of CNBC in Jersey (Impressive!!!)
- And been assaulted when a guy hit me and said “Hey, I like your shoes”

And by far my biggest hook is that I’m from Alaska. I’ve been able to upstage almost everybody else when people ask what university we went to. And the checkered vans have helped me stick out a bit. One executive remarking that it took balls to wear a suit and throw on dirty vans to go with it. I just shrugged and said that, “yes, I do have the balls to wear vans all the time.”
