Can You Feel It?
After the massive dose of awesome yesterday, I came into today looking for an adventure. Well that and I had The Apples In Stereo song “Can you feel it?” stuck in my head. But today was spent doing a ton more research that fell through than I normally do. Which wasn’t necessarily a bad thing, just none of it really panned out. I’m hoping to fix that so my supervisors don’t start to get disappointed in me.
Onto Rudy…
About 4:30ish we get an email about a fund raiser dinner Rudy Giuliani is holding in Times Square. The reporter Elaine can’t stay for the whole time, so I step up to the plate. I was there for almost two hours and in the end we pulled a 14 second joke about how he was the only “republican” mayor of the city.
So following are some of my impressions of the place by just looking around the room.
I’m surrounded by a ton of rich white men and one Asian kid… They paid how much for this? It’s only a tomato and cheese sandwich without bread. And now a drunk guy is trying to hit on a female reporter while making a pitch about how great Rudy is at the same time, this guy is smooth. Hey, is that Natalie Portman? (upon closer investigation… no it isn’t)
After they start to sing the national anthem. These guys sing like it was a high school assembly. Always just a little behind with a subtle groan in their collective voices. And this tenor is trying way to hard.
Overall he hit a bunch of his major campaign points, and only refered to 9/11 six times throughout the 20 min speech… Thats only once every 3.333333333 min, pretty good for him.
