Take Me Out To The Ballgame

The last time I went to a baseball game, Ken Griffey Jr. was playing next to Alex Rodriguez. It was early July 1996 at the Kingdome in Seattle. And to the best of my knowledge none of those things exist anymore.

Today’s contest was between the New York Mets and Cincinnati Reds. Being at a game for the first time in over a decade was a lot of fun. My roommate Brian made the trek into the heart of Queens to watch the Mets win 5-2 in nine innings.
Getting out there and getting back into Manhattan were probably the worst part of the experience. I had had sort of a late night, so sitting on a train for half an hour with no ability to move made for a more than perfect napping place.

And there is nothing like eating movie theater quality food at MLB stadium prices. I never thought I would actually pay $7.25 for a Bud Light, but I never thought I would be able to read at an 8th grade level, do dreams really do come true.

Overall it was a pretty fun time. Now I’m just exhausted. And I re-found a jewel in my itunes library today. The Muldoonies – Raucous Muldaucous is a really fun record. It is well produced and really captures what we all hoped they could sound like.

Last but not least, I have less than three weeks left in NYC.

Sad Panda,
Nick
