My American Idol Experience
Last week I had the opportunity to meet David Archuleta while at work. Fox News Radio gets dibbs on AI contestants after they get kicked off. So last Wednesday David Cook was in the office and I didn’t take a picture or anything, just recognized his existence. The next day David Archuleta made his way into the office. It was hilarious, tons of people were gathering outside the windows and taking pictures of him talking with affiliates.
After he completed his interview, people lined up to take advantage of the photo opportunity provided. I jumped in line because I know my grandmother LOVES Archie. When talking about him with her in Michigan, she spoke like a 14 year old girl with a poster on the wall. Every week she would watch the show just to make sure he was able to move onto the next round. So I did what any good grandson should do… I got a picture with the guy.

As I approached him, this is the conversation that took place.
Me: I just wanted to say, my grandmother LOVES you
David: Aw, thanks
-Picture taken-
Me: Thanks for the picture
David: Tell your grandma hi for me
Me: No problem
Once I had the picture I gave her a call and had the foresight to record the conversation. Below is the conversation that took place that afternoon. For full disclosure, the call was edited slightly to cut down on time, but all the good stuff remains. Turn up your speakers and listen to the last four seconds very closely after I hang up and before she hangs up… pure gold.

After that, many emails were sent around the horn, and I will share those later. Please enjoy.

omg your grandma sounds ADORABLE, as most grandmas are.
I can’t help but notice that you photoshopped your once fiery and demon-like pupils into dark, penetrating spheres.
I still think it’s cute that your co-worker accused you of “selling out for grandma”.
You’re such a good grandson.

Nick,
That has to be the FUNNIEST phone call I’ve ever listened to. I wish I could record some of the phone calls I’ve had with my great aunt Rose… Most are pretty priceless! Thanks for sharing the hilarity.
