Something I Did Got Dugg?

The internet is a mysterious and fickle thing. Celebrity can come and go with the moods of the people pushing it forward into the future. It is something I’m not entirely sure I want. Everything I have posted online over the last few years has been very carefully considered. How will this look to my family? employer? the entire world? So I take it pretty seriously, but I never imagined anything I post on flickr could be taken any farther than my blog. I guess I was wrong.

Below is a close up of a photo that Shayna and I took while I was in Alaska in June. I hope everybody got the joke. That she loves me and I was supposed to wear one that returns the sentiment, but only has PANCAKES!

Apparently somehow, somewhere, somebody thought it was pretty funny too and put it up on Digg. Below is the resulting digg posting, and surprisingly 18 other people thought it was funny enough to digg.

If that wasn’t enough, a user on the forums for my favorite webcomic Questionable Content thought it was funny enough to be inserted into the comic itself.

In response, Jeph said simply “Nope sorry.” Although I’m sad my simple sight joke wasn’t QC material (I doubt much user submitted content is) but it still blows me away to think that someone would even consider it in the first place. The internet is a magical place, you never know what will end up making you a star, I just hope this wasn’t my 18 diggs of fame.

- I still love pancakes… and Shayna too…

I guess she should have come first in that sentence. Oh well, I could simply go back and fix it later. Why don’t you just do it right now? You are writing all this to yourself in the first place. Good point! But if I did that then there would be no need for any of this, and I am already in my pajamas. Have fun explaining that one in the morning buddy. Thanks a lot inner monologue. -Nick
