He… Has Returned!

Alright, maybe I’m touting my skills a little too much, but yes, I am back. I never really have a good answer for why I take these extended breaks, but it has been long enough.

Looking back on the past two months, here are a few highlights:

I moved out of my place in Sunset Park and moved in with Shayna and Jess
I’m going to take a class on how to use a high powered laser at the end of the month
I got the new iphone
Ate part of a 370lb cookie
The Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup

NYC Pillow Fight 2010

Saturday, I took Shayna, Jess, Lance, and Mallory to the gigantic pillow fight. It was great as always. This being my second time attneding the event, I prepared by writing “BAM” and “KA-KOW” on my pillow before entering battle. On the initial drive, myself and Lance made it to the center of the mass and held our ground for about 7 minutes before leaving. The second drive had me leading a group, only to be separated almost instantly when we reached a pocket of fratty looking guys shouting and demolishing anybody not wearing red. (I was asked to join, Lance was intimidated almost instantly).

I was able to snap a few pictures from inside the pit with my iphone, and I have a full holga roll that I’ll put up when I have them developed. Overall it was a ton of fun (again) and I can’t wait to expose more people to it next year. There are more pictures over at my flickr account.

Tony’s Wedding

So, the wedding happened last summer, but I still think this is awesome. My friend Tony (2008 IRTS Fellow)’s wedding has been featured on Rock ‘n Roll Bride.

First up is Tony & Katie’s laid back, funky backyard wedding. Although the pair live in New York they opted to hold their wedding in Kentucky where all their family are based. They knew they didn’t want a traditional church wedding and luckily for them Katie’s grandparents allowed their home to play host to the celebrations.

You can see other photos from the wedding at the site. When I first saw them on facebook, I could instantly tell it was Tony who picked out the skinny ties. Please excuse me, I’ve got to go rewatch Mad Men again.

Upcycled Suitcase Liquor Cabinet

This may seem like fimiliar territory, butI have created another liquor cabinet suitcase. This one has a way better story. I found it at the Brooklyn Flea in early January. After buying it for 25 bucks from a very nice man named Lionell, I took it home and started to plan it out. The major differences include, a hiding spot for a 6oz steel flask, and a cherry oak stain. The hinge on the side swings out a bit to reveal extra lables and a bottle opener.

I’ve created an etsy account and the listing can be found HERE. I’m trying to recoup the cost of parts and labor, not much more. I had a blast covering my room in sawdust to get this thing looking so nice. All I can hope is that someone actually wants to buy it. 2010 DC Trip

Over the weekend I took a lovely trip to Washington DC with some of my favorite people in the world. There are so many great pictures from the trip and I can’t extend enough thanks to Lewis, Chuck, and Nicole for taking us in and showing us around. I had a blast, and was able to catch up with both Graber and Libby Casey. It was just the kind of break I needed from life.
