What can I say that I haven’t already. I had such a great time, and I just have to throw a couple of shout outs. Big ups for Todd Starnes who helped convince my bosses to let me cover it for Fox News Radio. Issac Paris for actually going to the con and helping me interview a few superheros. All the superheros who actually let me talk to them and were incredibly cool (except Kal-el and Leia who were sort of jerks). And finally Pope Benedict the XVI, whose visit to NYC made for a few interesting answers over the course of the afternoon.

The thought of covering the NYCCC had been in the back of my mind since I had heard about it sometime in March. If there is ever a way that I can combine the things I’m doing in my free time and with what I’m doing at work, I’ll jump on it. There is always this point though that I realize I should tell work that I want to go and see if they will help me get a press pass. This time I didn’t think it would fly, so I purchased a ticket for Saturday and on Friday the 18th, during casual conversation about the weekend, I let it slip that I was going to the con. Well Todd told me how he had been approved and Fox Business had been there all day, so I discussed covering for him going, due to Pope coverage.

On Saturday I went into work and picked up a Marantz recorder and decided to walk over to the Javits Center. It is such a walk and I wanted to be a professional and wear a tie… bad idea. On arrival I picked up my press pass pretty easy and kissed the money I paid for a ticket down the drain. I wondered around the floor a bit and met up with Issac. We got right to interviewing various con goers. The Boba Fett guy was super nice and took off his helmet to talk to me, something up until that point I had thought was a no-no. He was also on the search for any droids, so I kept my eyes peeled the rest of the afternoon. After that it was a Jedi, and the Green Lantern. Finally we find a Superman and several Princess Leiai(?) most in the metal bikini and one in white robes.

*note to anybody thinking about being Princess Leia. If you don’t have the body for it, stick to the robes, people won’t think any less of you.

Issac and I split up for a while so he could attend a panel and I wanted to wander around a bit. After looking through a ton of booths, I decided to hit up either Zombie Survival 101, or a Venture Brothers Panel. Upon entering a very large hallway, I immediately regretted my decision. There had to be several thousand people all pointed in different directions and wanting to get into either of those two panels. Once I was stuck somewhere in the middle of it I hopped the next wave of people leaving and watched a crapload of Jedi do tricks on a smaller stage upstairs.

And in the end almost as fast as it had began, I had to leave so I could get my fresh new audio to work and cut it up for that afternoons newsfeeds. I didn’t leave empty handed though; I bought a few shirts, an Iron Man tumbler glass (much like my favorite Spider-Man one), a Scott Pilgrim poster (eat it Seifert), and many memories that I hope to get me through at least next con.

February 8th and 9th 2009 here I come. Those days are already crossed off.

I have finally gotten around to putting up the rest of the material I gathered from this weekend’s comic con. Imagine, I was only there for a couple of hours, but I talked to so many different people and saw so many different things, it was just crazy.

This is a wrap in the same vain of Pillow Fight and the Giants Win. It is just a collection of me talking to various superheros that include Superman, Spider-Man, The Green Lantern, Boba Fett, and Princess Leia.

This is my interview with the co-creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Peter Laird. He was a super nice guy, and if I had thought of it, I would have had a picture taken with him. We discussed the turtles impact on society and how they have impacted my life. During it I did get sort of fanboyish on him, but he didn’t seem to mind. *Big props to Issac Paris for the help with this and many other interviews.

Finally, if you didn’t make it all the way to the end of the clip, Peter and I discuss the fact that I did not own “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3: The Manhattan Project” for NES. I had friends who lived a few houses down who did, and that was always the one NES game I never owned. I apologize to my parents for calling them cheap. They have always been financially good to me. I was flustered and anxious and it slipped out.

I am reporting LIVE from the New York Comic-Con at the Jativs Center on the West Side of NYC. I would like to think I was slick enough to get Fox News Radio to let me cover it due to my excellent reporting techniques and not the fact that the Pope is in town and it is a slow news day.

Anyways, I found an open computer and decided to hit this up while it was all fresh in my mind cogs. So far I have been able to interview; Spider-Man, The Green Lanter, several Jedi, Superman, Princess Liea, and some dude who is in a pirate band. Expect several hundred photos, videos, and audio of the coverage I was able to provide while here.

If you couldn’t tell, I am really giddy at the moment.
