    I got another review up!!! SCORE ANOTHER ONE FOR ME!!! I’m actually pretty excited about this one. After I submitted it, I was rather worried that it was total shit, so I started rewording the entire thing in my head while in the shower, and later in the day Spectrum’s film editor, Eric wrote me an email telling me it was a great review and to keep up the good work. It was awesome. Please enjoy the trailer above and then have your documentary dreams crushed when you read the review.

    The film’s greatest flaw is that the entire conflict is only portrayed through the lens of good versus evil, while the actual story is far more complex.

    • ]]>     I’ve been sitting on this for a little over a day due to my massive sleeping habit. Yesterday I went to bed a little after 9am and woke up to take a shower at 8:50pm. I know… the good life. This is the first piece I submitted to Spectrum Culture, and I’m alright with it. For some reason I have a harder time reviewing albums than live shows because you can’t describe the atmosphere of an album (i.e. sitting in my room) or what hipster was wearing while standing next to you at a show. But I present to you… Oh Captain My Captain.

    Portland’s Oh Captain My Captain’s {Recklessly She Split The Sea} is a compilation of attempted epics. Decades of British rock are blended together to create an extremely textured record, at times invoking the Beatles, Queen, Muse and Radiohead. Apparently, reaching across the pond for inspiration has produced a very theatrical album; one that takes some time to enjoy.
